How can germs be removed from drinking water?
To remove germs from drinking water, we use two different disinfection processes:
- Disinfection with UV light
- Disinfection with neutral sodium hypochlorite
Both procedures have their advantages and disadvantages. Disinfection with UV light is primarily used for prevention when there is no acute infestation. In the event of an acute infestation (for example by legionella), sodium hypochlorite is added to the water. Both processes are approved for drinking water.
